Jeffrey Iverson pardoned by governor lombardo

In a 2023 landmark decision that marks a significant moment of personal and public reconciliation, Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo has granted a full gubernatorial pardon to Jeffrey Iverson. This action, which includes the restoration of Iverson’s civil rights and the removal of his “convicted felon” status, reflects a profound acknowledgment of his journey from troubled past to community leader.

Jeffrey Iverson’s path to redemption is both compelling and inspiring. In a statement following the pardon, Iverson reflected on his past struggles and triumphs:

“In 2001, due to some pretty dumb choices, and my addiction, I was arrested and convicted of my first felony drug charge. I struggled to get clean, in and out of treatment centers and jail for years. Again in 2005 I was arrested and convicted of more serious drug-related charges. In 2006 I entered the Eighth District Drug Court Program and have been clean since. So for 23 years I was labeled as a ‘convicted felon.’

Thanks to God, who put some incredible mentors and people in my life, I was able to stay clean, and my journey started to change courses. I became a father, a husband, an employee, and eventually a business owner. In 2009 I founded the Freedom House and in 2017 founded CrossRoads of Southern Nevada. I have made it my mission to help others who struggled like I did, understand that there is a better life for themselves just a few decisions away.

I had so many supporters along the way, but also many naysayers, who tried to hold my past against me. People told me things I dreamed of were not possible. For many years, people didn’t take me seriously. I kept going. I persevered, and I chased my dreams like my life depended on it, despite what society had labeled me.

Today I had a full-circle moment, as I sat with Governor Lombardo in his office, discussing all of the above, and am proud to say that after 23 years, the Pardons Board, consisting of the Governor, Attorney General, and all of the NV Supreme Court Justices, granted me a full Gubernatorial Pardon, restoring all of my rights and stripping me of the title of convicted felon.

I am grateful, honored, and will continue to fight hard and help others in need. I write this to give hope to anyone who has made poor choices or a bad decision. I am here to tell you that time takes time. That what we can dream we can achieve. That the system is in fact not out to get us. That our pasts do not define our futures. What defines our futures is our actions and choices moving forward.

Thank you God for my life today, and all of the people along the way that so selflessly helped a guy like me rebuild his life. I cannot name you all here, but you know who you are.”
